Dear Richmond,
I miss you so. I left yesterday and it feels like I’ve been gone a lifetime.
I miss you so. I left yesterday and it feels like I’ve been gone a lifetime.
I love you. And Hampton Roads and NoVA cannot compare to you. Your rich history, bustling businesses and homes, and lovely pastimes and shopping and just…. everything. Dear Richmond, this is the life.
I’m sorry, but girls do need to realize that what they wear contributes to rape. If you are showing a man what you have through your skimpy clothing, you clearly want him to have it. Or at least you give him that impression. And of course the girls who dress like this…
Yeah. Whoever submitted this unpopular opinion should have their vagina sewn shut.
It was theruthtoyournaomi. This is for you, Ruth!
In 2009, there were 81,280 reported forcible rape cases in the United States. According to RAINN, “2/3 of assaults are committed by someone known to the victim” and “38% of rapists are a friend or acquaintance.” I’m going to take a wild guess here - You’ve never been sexually assaulted? I was sexually assaulted wearing pajamas. I had a friend who was sexually assaulted in a raincoat. Next time you want to make a sweeping generalization about what women who choose to present themselves in a way that you don’t find kosher, you should probably look up some information then rethink your narrow-minded disregard for the people you’re dismissing as sluts who were asking for it anyway.
By the way, knowing that “15/16 rapists will never spend a day in jail,” I hardly believe you have the information required to make assumptions about the sort of women rapists target.
Then again, you also think Gays go to Hell and that people only use contraceptives so they can be promiscuous. Do you know how many women wish they were on birth control after being raped? Oh, wait, but ”there is rape, but women should be strong enough to love the child or give it up for adoption.” I’m glad that you’re so wise, in your no-more-than-19-years, to make that decision for every victim of sexual assault.
So maybe what you think about important things, like Equal Rights, my right to control my own body, and Rape isn’t that important to me.
Tangentially, do you think that blaming rape victims is very Christian of you? Do you think God would be proud of the way you’re judging an entire group of victimized human beings based on the way you assume they act and dress? This assumption, by the way, is untrue.
You’re probably not a bad person - I don’t know you and wouldn’t venture to make that judgment - But you’re very ignorant. Unfortunately, for people like you, the Internet isn’t a private place. Eventually someone will find the terrible, ignorant things you’ve said and call you out for them. I implore you to learn more about rape, better understand what victims are going through, and make a sincere apology to the entire world for the uneducated, asinine sweeping generalization you’ve made.

I’ve missed you so much. I’m returning this Friday.
gotta live it up before you give it up.
I have to go back to harrisonburg on sunday. but no worries, I’ll be down frequently this semester. I can’t fucking wait.
it’s new year’s eve. and the weather is kick-ass. I hope that’s an indication to how 2012 is gonna be. I can’t wait for the summer when the nova kids all run back to their homes.
it’s been two weeks already. my nova friends keep asking me to visit, but I’ve been refusing. I’m living it up before I give it up.
Intersession classes suck, but it’s really nice to be here when less students are around. So peaceful. At least, comparatively. ;)
do you miss me? on this rainy day, I missed you.
